HERE continues to lead the way in the automotive industry, working with the vast majority of OEMs on location-based technology that’s at the foundation of today and tomorrow’s vehicle experiences. Their map data and services are found in 4 out of 5 vehicles sold with embedded navigation systems in North America and Western Europe. To date, more than 100 million vehicles have HERE maps on board.

Leadership desired to automate the Strategic Plan to get a 360-degree view of the information they needed to make real-time, value-based decisions to maximize the ROI delivered by the programs, projects and products they invested in.

Launched SPM team using Kanban/ Agile principles, trained and led cross-functional team. Shifted mindsets from project to product. Assisted with build out of product requirements.

Leadership had ability to make real-time decisions on their investments across the strategic plan.

SITUATION

Leadership desired to automate the Strategic Plan to get a 360-degree view of the information they needed to make real-time, value-based decisions to maximize the ROI delivered by the programs, projects, and products they invested in. The company uses a VSEM (Vision, Strategy, Execution, and Metrics) Framework to create and manage its strategic plan.

The current Strategic Plan was contained in a series of powerpoints that cascaded through the management levels for each function.

Leadership needed a way to visualize their strategic plan and enable multiple levels to create their cascading plan. Leadership also needed a way to track key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout the year to ensure their investments were on target.

MY APPROACH

As an Agile Coach, I lead the Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) Digitization Team as follows:

  • Shifted mindset from project to product: worked with team to shift mindsets from project to product by establishing a product owner role and working with the technical teams to understand critical requirements.
  • Trained and Coached Product Manager and Product Owners: worked with product manager and product owners to define product vision, product roadmap, product features, user personas, and user stories.
  • Led team using Scrum: Trained and led distributed team using Scrum, built team alliance, held daily standups, story refinement, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives. Instilled an agile mindsetup into teams. Delivered value in 2 week sprints.
  • Setup and Configured Collaboration Tooling: Worked with team to setup JIRA, Confluence and Sharepoint to enable collaboration.

Delivered a digitized LPM solution using Shibumi. Shifted mindsets from project to product thinking.
